This Week’s Hints to help you along:
- Designed at war using captured Nazi jet engines.
- Paved the way to 30 years of design development.
- Delayed as the factory didn’t know metal fabrication.
- Over a year of work before it was abandoned.
So do you know what this aircraft is?

Russian, probably a MiG, but I’m not sure.
Guessing:
Prototype of an X-15. or the B-58 Hustler.
R.O.B./
That’s an early Russian experimental Yak.
Looks like an experimental version of a Yak-50, c.1949. I say experimental because the few pics of the Yak-50 I’ve seen have a different intake config (more like the MiG-15 or F-86). However, Randy may be on the right track.
I think that is either a MiG-17 prototype or a CHICOM L-9 prototype.
Lavochkin La-200.
